[Letterhead: President's Office, Fitchburg Railroad.] Boston, Mass., April 22nd 1871

To the Trustees of Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

Gentlemen ._

The Fitchburg Railroad Company respectfully petitions, that a gate-way or entrance, be made into your grounds at some point opposite their railway station at Mount Auburn. believing that said gate-way would be a great convenience to the public, who use the Railroad as a mode of conveyance to and from your cemetery.

The Fitchburg Rail-Road Company would also state that they are prepared to pay any portion of the expense incurred for such purpose as may be just and reasonable.

Fitchburg Rail Road Co by Mr. B. Steanes Rescdint.
