Herewith please find the "Pay Row" for the month. ending yesterday.

I know you have adopted the plan of "keeping off" on the following Monday from its date. But as it is nearly a week to next Monday, and the glorious 4^th coming on. Friday next, when all our men will be at liberty, and no money in their pockets to celebrate the day! I beg leave to ask you in their behalf, to break over your rule on this particular occassion; and pay them some time when it is most convenient previous to next Friday. Respectfully Yours Daniel L.
