Trustees' Report

of the addition of new territory to the Cemetery, as well as the
increased cost of materials and labor, the Trustees on the voted that the Permanent Fund shall amount to two
hundred thosand dollars before any of the interest on the same
shall be touched.

Having thus given a summary of the more important
subjects acted upon during the past year, detailed accounts of
the transactions of the Corporation being contained in the Reports
of the Superintendent and Treasurer, submitted herewith, the
Trustees desire to refer briefly to the general condition of the
Cemetery; it has been their aim, and they have been zealously ^seconded
by the Superintendent, to make the grounds attractive and
pleasant, by keeping the Avenues and Paths clear and free
from obstructions, and the ornamental grounds supplied, by
importation and purchase, with a variety of flowering shrubs
and plants. they have also endeavored to reach the Proprietors
of neglected lots, and induce them to order the necessary repairs,
believing that in most cases it will only require that they
shall be made aware of the condition of their lots to lead them
to apply the proper remedy. This is a most important subject,
as the effect of considerable tracts of our territory is injured
by the unsightly condition of a few lots, and the Trustees desire
the hearty co=operation of the Proprietors in their efforts for
improvement.

A revision of the By=Laws has been prepared and adopted
by the Board; while adhering closely to the spirit of the old laws
they have been simplified and made applicable to the present
requirements of the Corporation. They are now in the hands
