I by leave to inform
you that I hold a power of attorney to collect
from the Indian Department all the money
due David E. Hamblen for cattle sold the
agent in 1863. for the Round Valley Indian
Reservation. I enclose you a copy of the
power to collect, and I desire the money
will not be paid to any one but myself
or my proper order. I sold Hamblen
more than half the cattle he furnished
and have advanced money to him for
the balance he owed on his purchases
and he has transfered me the whole claim.
Subject to a deduction he pays of about $1500
or $1800 for Indian goods he sold. he dont
know the exact ammount.
My principal object in
giving you this information is to solicit an
answer, 1st as to the exact ammount
