Untranscribed 1862

Saterday 20 this morning
very cold and windy received
a letter from home Mr Carter letter
went down into town to day
bought a daily paper to get
the news two of our Cavalry
picketts captured by the Rebel
picketts and one of ours wounded
our picketts captured one of the Rebel
pickett a major in the cavalry
he was (__) to head quarters a
very fine inteligent looking
young man I stood and
listened to our officers asking
him questions all of which he
answered in a Gentelmany
maner he has bean in active
service since last Ma(?) and
prior to that a quarter master
in the rebel army he said he
was a native of this county
(Jefferson) wood to warm us is
very scarce (__) and I
succead in getting in a tolerable
supply I am in good health
for which I (__) thank full I
have some little cold.
