If the writers who are deluded by this fallacy really meant to say that the only motive to action is the desire for pleasure, taking pleasure in its proper sense of a simple quality of feeling (I am not using psychological terminology but am taking quality in a wider sense) then their doctrine would be false enough, but it would not be absurd; and it would certainly follow that there was no distinction of right and wrong. | 136 |
