L.A., Calif. July 31, 1923
Dear Alice & all the rest:
The reason I want you mentioned first is so you'll be sure & not forget to go over to Mrs. Honeyman's this week. She would like to have you play for S.S,. [Sunday School], next Sunday morning and wanted to consult you as to the song. She took one of the C.E. books home with her from church & said she'd look thru it. The organ or piano is to be moved up there for us.
Please don't forget it & also don't forget to study for and take the test on Numbers Thursday evening at 7:30. Try to get a number to go as

she would surely be greatly discouraged if only a few came. I decided that it would be better for me to stay here as closely as possible & especially at night so if my lady hurriedly left durante la noche, I would still be on hand to help Jean. So I'll not be there.
I gave Roy instructions to stop & get the C.E., [world?], for next Sunday & give it to some girl, preferably, or a boy to lead. If no one can take it, will you please take it, as I think this will be the last meeting until September, sometime.
Did you pay Mr. Tuttle for me? If so, thanks much. If not, hurry, [illegible], & do so, please. I left the bill & a

$1.50 on the dresser & told mother to be sure you put the remainder from the bill, ($1.35), back. (Also, please).
Have you had any sleep since I last saw you? If not, you'd better have someone read this for you 'cause it would be dreadful to open "sleepy" eyes to [illegible].
Say, there's a boy back & to the left of us on the next street west who starts at approximately the same time every afternoon to play or rather toot his old coronet & keeps it up until he about drives us crazy, (I guess it's a boy). Mrs. Hutchinson starts to howl at it like a dog does at a train & we have pieces, [peace?], perfect pieces.

of revived arts.

Mr. N. went to Gea Perching's big banquet for ex-service men last night & Mrs. & I were still talking when he came home after 11:00.
Well, I'll quit & take my swim & let Mrs. H. mail this for me. Love & kisses to you all.
Helen.
