Dry weather, but occasionally there is appearance of rain - Hard weather on the young wheat. 6th Worked in shop - made new wagon bed for W.G. Carter. Husked a small load of corn Received letter up(?) from Susan Tyson Commenced repairing Mr G. Carters carriage - Hauling off corn - Still dry weather.
8 Warm - Hauled in corn and raised potatoes. John Mearns called (__) dearborn -- 9th Appearance of rain -- Simmons wants a two horse wagon. Hannah came up -- Jonathan Lane & I settled

October 14th 1852
Sowed guano at rate of 60 lbs per la(__). Rain came on at noon - cut out curtains for Wm G Carter's carriage - raining briskly at night. There has been a long spell of dry weather.
15 Sowed wheat to day - got seed of Mr Levis and sowed about 3 1/2 bus on 1 1/2 acres and a bout 850 lbs No 3 Guano, costing $25 per ton at Landing -
16 Saturday - worked in shop and finished carriage for W G Carter and nearly finished lock S Hanna went to school house to meeting to organize Debating School.

Pleasant weather - Appearance of Indian Summer Worked in shop
2 Threatening rain - At work in shop - John got 21 bushels coal of Thomas Rogers - Debate at school house Savage & civilized --
23 Saturday - clears up without rain - court adjourned after session of two weeks.
23 Sunday - Pleasant dya - Absalom & wife came over. Milly fell on stairs and was much hurt. Mr Helm bold preached at New Leeds. Daniel Webster died at 3-22 in the morning

27th Oct 1852
Went into Balto with Danl and Henry and called to see Aunt Betsy and took dinner with her -- Then walked out to the Maryland cattle show. There was quite a display of fine stock of produce & ma chinery but we had only time to stay about 2 hours and did not get around to view all the articles - Saw many persons there from Cecil I returned home with Daniel that evening.
28th Came into town in the morn ing with Wm & John and called at Aunt Betsey's and Henry M and John Thomas went with us to the cattle show - a great crowd of people there.

Intitute. This large hall was crowded with people walking backward and forward viewing the the great display of the works of art so tastefully arranged within the spacious hall. There was a machine in operation planing boards one in making pins, a sewing machine and various others stayed in Baltimore all night
29 Came home to day - great rush in the cars. Henry got out at Bacon Hill. Weather warm and pleasant. John had finished husking and putting away the corn - 60 bushels. Went to debate at night Donnelly & Ramsay debated the propriety of capital pun ishment.
