23 July 1852

Very warm - went up to Jno W. Simpers in morning to fire his wagon for machine Took dinner there - Hauled in hay in evening.

24 Mrs Wilson went home and V went along. I went to Mar thas and after dinner went to Lords Factory - It was the first time I had been in that mill A fine building with good ma chinery -- went to Benj Bowen's and found the old man pretty brisk.

25 Sunday Was at home most of the day Robert Leachcalled and had much talk. Milly came home from Mr Morris-

25 Rain - Fine corn weather - corn is now sprouting. Wrote deed & 2 mortgages for Minker - Lizzie Wilson here.

July 27 1852 Went in morning to Scott's Mill D. Scott paid the bill of Alan Scott $8.50 -- paid Owens & Evans $6. it was paid Owens in check of Parke & Brothers to Jno Devinney - Met the assessors on road and gave an acct of my property. Jona sick again.

28 Went to Elkton- Took dinner at Walmsley's - Martha received letter from Daniel. Sarah getting better. Sent letter Wm McClellan Iowa.

29 Went in morning to Marker(?) Mill and got a barrel of flour in the bag. $4.37 1/2

30 Worked at cart shafts for Levis - and at Lock for Joseph Miller - Robt McCauley came up -

Saturday 31 July 1852

Pleasant weather - remarkably fine season for corn - V came home from Gloucester - John H and Hyland came up - rain

augt 15th Sunday Cool - Wm Warburton brought mother, Harriet and Martha came up. Went to church N Leeds in afternoon. Mr Taylor preached.

2 Cool and pleasant - Mother here Cut & hauled stuff for wagon tongues from Mr Wilson's wood -

3 Worked in shop - began to fire up our carriage rain in the afternoon

4 Rain - rain - rain all the day rain at night.

Augt 5th 1852 Clear & pleasant in morning rain in afternoon Mother unwell and wants to go home 6 Cloudy & warm - Took mother to Elkton in morning Brought Mr Campbell up & Mary Carrol. Sent letter to D. J & J W Evans. Much oats still out. Corn looks well.

8 Sunday Pleasant - Red Lion Camp going on. Went to see Henry McCauley - called Miss Bs --watch missing --

Monday July 9th 1852 Pleasant letters recalled Jim W. went home - com menced to trim carriage. Boston brought wheel for repair Thrashing machine at Burke's John Kirk called - Miss Laura arrived - Jon went to Elkton

10 At work at timber wheel. rain in afternoon. John Scarborough came home sick.

1 Pleasant - went to Elkton in morning - Got letter from D.J. Joe is sick - Passed acct on E. Reynolds estate $427 1/2 - Mr. White & daughters up -- paid 3.37 1/2 to Mr. White for Lizzie's schooling.

12 Worked in shop at timber wheels for J Brown.
