Tuesday, February 4, 1919
A rainy day. Jim made him a tomato bed. Josie ironed and got dinner.
Ben come home from Danville tonight. He sold tobacco there today. Mayhew carried it on his truck.
Henry went to school today. I went to Carries a while this evening.
Jim hung up the meat this morning.
We heard to day that Willie Brumfield went to Robert Laynes. We thought that he would come to see us but he did not come.

Sunday, February 9, 1919
A cloudy day and a little snow. Jim and Sarah Emerson & two children went from here this morning. They went to Mrs Graveleys. Ben went to Marvins and while he was gone Willie Brumfield come. He eat dinner with us then Ben carried him by Robert Laynes and to Long Island on his way to Richmond. I was glad that he come that long.
After Ben and Willie went a way Josie and I and the children went to Marvins a while. Ben come home at dark to night.

Thursday, July 10, 1919
A good day. They thrashed wheat here and at Marvins today. Willie Brumfield & Dr Cutor come to day. They eat dinner here.
Josie picked 3 gallons of black berries and caned them. I picked a few beries this evening.
They are plentiful this year.

Sunday, November 2, 1919
A good day. I got breakfast and milked the cows then Ben carried Cordie and I to Long Island. We come on the Virginian R-R to Alberta. The[re] we had to wait for a train until dark then we came to Richmond. Willie & Julia met us at the depot. We come on a street car to Willies house. Effie had a good supper. I am so glad that we got here ok.
