1851 Sept 25th very cool this morning we are stacking Our Tops cut over our Tobacco & got near 1400 Sticks in all 245 fresh ground in new ground 846 in lotts by prize barn 291 in all 1382

26th Stacked Our tops yesterday & finished worming & succoring Tobacco this morning making Hog pen for mountain Grazier — after the Dew gets off then we shall cut Tobacco again – fair & Clear sent Jacob to Faris’s mill 1 Bus wheat for flour & get the articles he brot from for meLynchg

30 cutting & firing Tobacco Tobacco yesterday & to day – fair & warm

Oct 5th The weather the Past week has been fair & mild we have Housed all our Tobacco cut except the mountain field pulled & shucked Out Our Lot Corn by Granary & mountain field made nearly or about 12 Bbls while we were measuring up Corn friday Our Tops Stack fell down & we had to stack that again picked up flax yesterday Pompey Hurt Pink yesterday morning I don't Know whether he broke her leg or not meeting at Strait Stone yesterday taking some steps to put a stop if Possible to the Villany going on in this pt of the Country

Oct. 9th Began to sew wheat here yesterday at mountain field sewed Rye at Granary Lot & also the wheat there yesterday & to day Cut Buck wheat firing prize Barn & new Barn in Lot Expect to Begin to cut all Our Tobacco to day Began to Sew wheat at Mrs McCullocks Tuesday

7th Oct Cutting down there Corn Clear & fair

10 Cutting Tobacco in Lots etc Henry Bushing mountain field Fed gone to mill 2 Bus wheat to eat 2 Bus for flour & 2 Bus. Corn & 1½ Bus for overseer & 1 peck for Lila cloudy this morning

11th we have got from the mill all but our corn meal finished cutting & stacking Tobacco this day

13th Halled first cutting out of new ground Barn 710 sticks to prize Barn

1852 Feby 12th Yesterday it Rained in morning & in evening. Turned off quite cool to day We have 10 lambs to this day & 1 calf Halled leaves in all our Barn to day — etc. We have striped but little Tobacco yet Jacob & Jerry Started to School last Monday the 9th Feby 1852

17th Since the 12th we have been plowing Halling wood malling in little new ground near new ground barn, fencing in fresh ground & began to mall here at home not striped much tobacco yet weather fine for time of year. nearly done plowing flat land for Corn Bedded a good deal for Corn next to Orchard, also flushed some next to middle barn, - waggon & Cart Halling Rails from fresh ground and around corn fields next to middle Barn, Shrubing fence Row Pilling wood in new ground here at home we have 13 Lambs to this day lost One -

19th Planted Irish Potatoes in hog pen by spring yesterday began to Plow in fresh ground Rolled Logs by fresh ground in little new ground & burning them to day & Plowing out there Federick malling in new ground by house cloudy & like for falling weather, not very cold

24. Some Rain in a few days past help Mr Lewis Ephrain & Parham & also at Mr Fitzgerald Plantation This week, we are Plowing Halling wood Out little new ground, this is a very pretty dayMy wife & Lila, & several of the children complaining. Sallie sick at last Strait Stone meeting say Feby- — 1852 We have 14 or 15 Lambs to this day & only 1 calf

March 2nd Rained Friday & saturday did not Plow much, latter part last week striped all the Tobacco we had down in prize Barn

1852 Augt 11th Rained last night a fine Rain & this morning Started with machine to help Mr Fitzgerald clear this morning 3 hands & 3 Horses gone to help him –

12th my wife went to Mrs Hunts yesterday & to day to see Mrs Jno Hunts stayed all twice lately & Mrs Hunt I went to meeting yesterdayis very low & Julia Daniel & sick

13th Toping Tobacco yesterday & to day also worming & succoring This we are Hilling up Lot again & faning out wheat -Baptising at Strait Stone to day —

16 went to Court Henry Jordan & sandy & 3 horses has been 4 days Mr Fitzsat gone back again this morning choping Corn on BranchHenry got home from Carrying machine homeabout 11 Oclock in night

17 Rained a fine Rain last night Henry came home from carrying the machine to Capt Fitzgerald about 11 Oclock in night fine Rain Sent to Millers Mill spining this morn[in]g

18- Toping & worming Tobacco & finished Hilling up Lot to day Sewed Turnip Patch over again

19. Beeting apples Toping Tobacco etc etc –

Toping & worming Tobacco & Beeting apples etc Drying fruit, Sent Fed to shop & Mrs Hunts, carried to shop 3 McC ^ Plows 2 to sharpen & 1 to p[a]int Iron to Iron waggon & 1½ Bars for Plantation Sent 2 Grub Hoes to sharpen 1 oxe yoke to put Ring & staple in for young steers 1 little auger to mend. Sent to Mrs Hunts for 1 Bblcorn she gave us

21st went to Mrs Colemans Hillfield plantation & Wm Wallers yesterday, Rained all night nearly - cloudy this morning & Raining Fed mending Jacob shoes working on Baskets & spining, very warm fine growing weather Halling rocks for chimney to Henrys house eveningin

22nd Rained nearly al night very wet growing weather etc etc

1852 Sept 1st Engaged Bud Faris to Rive & draw shingles & find himself at Two Dollars a Thousand to be paid in wheat & Vinegar or something else.

2nd Went to Colo Dickensons Chalk Level for Mrs McCullock & to CH for Capt Fitzgerald & myself etc fine Day ———

3rd worming & succoring Tobacco & cut 23 stacks out of new ground that was firing

4th worming Lot Tobacco & finished & went in fresh ground Jordan Lowry & claiborne, Fed alse Sandy & Kitty sawing from 10 OC till night Henry went to Raise Barn at Doct Walkups Lila & Jordan Plowing at mountain field Something bit Pompeys fore Leg Swelled very much Stoped him @ 1 OC put Pain Killer on it & at Bathed it in mullin cloudy all night Rained & also day& [P?] top etc

5th fair & clear quite cool this morning Pompeys Leg Better 7th got Better & Kate got weddingto F Holys

9th Rain Rain, Rain, nearly every day & we have a good deal of fodder on the ground & we have cut about four Hundred stacks in new ground & to day Rained nearly all dayspining making Baskets etc etc

10th Spining Basket Making & mending Cates shoes Rained all night last night & this morning Bud Faris geting shoes & J. Tucker has got a few

11th cloudy & like for Rain this morning we are Beeting apples for vinegar,- Bet, one of our Milch cows Died Some time ago, Passing Blood seeming to be her complaint, last evening another cow Mary Died in same way Passing Blood. also one of our sheep Died in clover lot,- Very wet weather, & like to be so this morning cows are at mountain field where Mary Died

12th Strait Stone meeting Did not Rain this day & turned rather cooler & wind from N.W at night quite cool Fannie W & M F. here

1852 Sept 13th cleared off & very cool & not a cloud to be seen to day we are worming succoring Tobacco Tying up fodder which has been pulled a week & Cutting Fired Tobacco in Lot on Branch, one of my sheep Died Wm Plunket not at meeting yesterday -

14th Sent Fed to Mill this morning 9 Bushels wheat 2½ for fine flour worming & succoring Tobacco Hanging some Cut yesterday & Pulling fodder I am going to Settle business for Mrs McCullock

15th worming Toping & Succoring flat in Lot — Pulling fodder, the morning that they done yesterdayought to have

16. Cutting & Housing new ground Tobacco in the evening Tying up fodder cleared off very prettyweather

17th worming & succoring new ground & lot Tobacco firing Fair fine weather, moderate weather,

18. we have cut & Housed about 1700 Hundred Stackscut over all our Tobacco & out of all got about 1600 Hundred stacks, good fired with spots & some drowned, - worming fresh ground. Tyed up fodder last night put up 4 stacks Injured by wet,- pulling fresh ground fodder to day,- gathering peas etc etc

19. Fine weather, went to Harmony to day to Hear MRush

-20 Housing New ground Tobacco in new Barn. worming & succoring fresh ground Tobacco, some little cloudy gathering Peas & Expect to pull fodder to day the other side of the Branch weather moderate

21st Finished pulling fodder this evening Stacked 7 Stacks Blade like for Rain —

22nd Housing Tobacco in new ground. Barn or groundfresh Cutting Tops & firing Tobacco, cutting wood – cleared off this morning - gathering Peas, etc

23rd Finished pulling Blade fodder & Tyed some Tops - cutting tops on Branch

24 Began to Cut Tobacco & tying up fodder

25. Rained & cloudy friday & saturday some Blades on ground have put up 9 stack Blades all to Stack the other side of Branch
