Thursday, September 5, 1918
A good day. Just at dark it rained a shower. It was badly needed. The men folks got out at three oclock this morning and moved some tobacco and cut some this evening. Josie and [I] helped them some this evening. We picked some beans this morning.
This evening Cordie and Nettie Blair and Lizzie Anderson come. Kate and Virginia Harvey come. Virginia wants to learn to knit and knit a sweater.

Thursday, October 24, 1918
A good day. We all except Ben stripped tobacco until dinner.
Ben shod the horses this morning. This evening he went to Level Run after lumber and carried it to Willie Hubbards planer. Never got home til after dark.
Paul Josie and Henry and I gathered up the peanuts and washed them. We made a nice lot of them. I finished the socks that I knit for Charley Harvey. Irvin come for them.

Thursday, December 12, 1918
A cloudy disagreeable day but no rain.
Ben worked on Owens house. Miss Angle and Miss Janie went from here to school this morning.
Josie sewed some. I knit. I got some yarn from Richmond.
Josie went to Carries this evening did not stay long. Heard to day that Kate was feeling some better.

Monday, December 16, 1918
A bad day. Rained most of the day.
I was sick this morning. I got breakfast but could not eat. Ben and Josie milked. Josie boiled meat and made scrappel and finished drying out the lard.
I have knit most of the day.
Miss Snead come to see Ben. Something about the schools. Gladys Brumfield come with her. I did not meet her.
Josie went to Marvins a while this rainy day. They were all well at Marvins.

Tuesday, December 17, 1918
A cloudy day most of the day. Ben and Owen killed hogs this evening. Josie baked a cake. Carrie came down here a few minutes this evening.
I finished knitting for Thelma to night.
