Thursday, May 30, 1918
A good day and very hot. Ben Owen and Paul commenced to plow corn. Josie and I capped some straw berries this morning. Josie preserved them.
Paul killed two squirrels this morning. We had them for dinner to day.
Walter Layne come this evening to look at my cow. He said he would come in the morning and get her. Josie and I planted some butter beans to day. Josie went to Marvins for some meal. Mollie and Christenia was there.

Friday, May 31, 1918
A good day.
The men plowed corn. Josie ironed. I got dinner. This evening I planted some beans in the garden then went to Carries a little while.
Marvin planted tobacco with a planter. Reese and Henry droped plants.
Mr Murphy come to see a bout getting the school house for a play.

Monday, June 3, 1918
Some rain this morning it was badly needed.
Ben and Paul replanted tobacco. Mr Owen was at his brothers near Altavista. He brought a calf home this evening. Josie made Edna a dress to day.
Mrs Bailiss come and got some butter. I worked in the garden a while this evening. Eula Mayhew come and got a few tomato plants and Josies cards to make bats for a quilt.

Tuesday, June 4, 1918
A good day.
Ben and Paul and Owen replanted tobacco until dinner then commence to work out the tobacco.
Josie washed. I got dinner. Killed the first young chicken to day.
We all went to Carries. I went to Reynolds. Kate Harvey come to Carries. Doris and Christenia Reynolds come here, They wanted my suitcase and got it.
Hazel is sick. Hope she may be better by morning.

Wednesday, June 5, 1918
A good day. Ben and Paul worked tobacco. Kate Harvey and Josie found a swarm of bees in the orchard yesterday.
Ben hived them this morning. I hope that they may do well. Josie got dinner. I worked some in the garden. Planted some muskmellon seed and few pea nuts. I planted a few pumpkin seed.
I went to Blairs late this evening. They were all well. Sallie Blair was there. Did not see Cordie or Nettie. They were at Ren Worshams.
