Saturday, June 14, 1919

A good day. Some clouds this morning but no rain here. Ben finished cutting wheat at Marvins and at home.

Josie has had the tooth ache all day. I got dinner.

This evening Marvin let Paul Bennett carrie me & Henry to White Falls. We come with Robert Reynolds as far as Renan. Paul brough me home.

Gordon and Frances and Earl & Lizzie Bennett come down here this evening. Lizzie is with us tonight.

Henry and I had a good time if we did not catch many fish. Robert stopped at Alice Thomsons and got the ice cream freezer.

I had two invatations from the grand children to be at their graduations, one in Chatham and one in Richmond.

Ben and Josie went to Renan tonight.

Sunday, June 15, 1919

A good day. Josie got dinner. Lizzie Bennett and I went to George Blairs for dinner. Gordon & his wife and Earl and Paul Bennett all was there for dinner. They had a good dinner. Marvin & family and Irvin and Kate Harvey all come here a while this evening. I would of liked to of bin here two.

Jim went to Johnsons a while this evening. Ben staid at home all day.

Franklin & his mother has the tooth ache.

Saturday, July 26, 1919

A good day. Ben went to Brookneal this morning.

Jim sowed a turnip patch this evening.

Josie got dinner. She killed a chicken and baked pies this evening.

I went to Marvins this evening. Alma Bennett and I staid with the children. Marvin and Carrie went to Strait Stone to preaching. The protracted meeting commenced to day.

Earl and Lizzie Bennett come to Carries this evening. Lizzie come with me home. I am glad that she came.

Edna & Franklin went to Mr Hutchersons by themselves this morning.

Sunday, July 27, 1919

A good day. Jim staid at home all day. Ben went to Long Island and brought Mary Brumfield home with him.

Lizzie Bennett and [I] went to Strait Stone to preaching. Earl Bennett carried us and brough us home. They had dinner on the ground and had a plenty for all hands. Ben carried Lizzie to Johnson Reynolds to night. Mary & Henry & Edna all went with him. They have not got back yet.

Josie got dinner at home. She cooked a chicken & butter beans and corn.

Marvin & all of his family were there at preaching & Ren and his family.

Saturday, September 27, 1919

A good day. Ben worked on his car most of the day. I ironed some & got a snack for dinner. Josie was sick this morning.

Just at night to day Lizzie Bennett and Faber and Ola Jefferson come. They had bin to a picknick at Whittles. They brought enough things already cooked for our supper and even some of the things was for Carrie.

I made my supper of what they brought and did enjoy it. Ben amd Faber went where they some one was hunting but did not stay long. I am so glad to hear that Brother Letcher is improving some. Hope he may get well a gain. I am glad that Lizzie and the children come.

Nancy Elizabeth Brumfield (1968-1952) was the third child of Henry Anderson Brumfield and Julia Craddock Brumfield. She married John Timothy Bennett in 1891.
