A good day. Ben and Owen hauled wood this morning and sawed it this evening.
Josie mended her fire place this morning and got dinner. She cooked salsify and parsnips the [first] that we have had this season.
I went to Marvins this evening. I worked some button holes in the childrens clothes. Tonight I have ripped up an old skirt of Carries that Miss Alice Hubbard made before Carrie was married.
She is thinking of making some pants for Roy.
Ben has gone to Strait Stone to the lodge.

Sunday, January 12, 1919
A good day we all staid at home until evening.
Jim & Ben and I went to Marvins. Reese & Paul and Roy come here a while this evening. Today was Henry Brumfields birth day. He was born January the 12th 1833.
If he could of lived he would be 86 years olde.
I am glad that them that is living are well at this time. There is so much sickness that I am in constant dread that some that is dear to me will have the dreadful disease and die as so many others has that was dear to some one.

A cool windy day. The men folks sawed wood here & at Mr Owens. Josie ironed some and got dinner. This evening she sewed on pants for Franklin.
Aubrey Brumfield come here this evening for potatoes. I did not have them for him. Jim made a hot bed Tuesday and used all the potatoes that was fit to bed.
I have mised sister Mary and Mintie to day. Hope they got home ok.
I cut some grass out of the straw berrie patch this evening. Edna and Paul went to Molly Reynolds's this evening. They did not stay but a little while.

Today was Roy Smiths birthday.

A good day. There was frost this morning.
The men folks worked on their tobacco land all day.
Josie ironed some. I put eggs under two hens.
Jim planted some tomato plants right at night.
Roy and Paul has bin here all the evening.
Marvin & Carrie and three of the children went to Altavista this evening. I guess Kate & Virginia Harvey went with them. Mr & Mrs Pagget passed here this evening.
Josie scraped the grass out of the walke way to the front gate walk.
Well I will quit. I went to sleep before I finished.

Saturday, May 31, 1919
A good day. Jim & Ben worked on the tobacco until they finished.
Josie baked a cake this morning and made a few preserves. I dressed 4 chickens and capped a few berries. This evening Josie scrubed the dining room floor.
Marvin very kindly let Paul Bennett carrie Reese & Paul and Roy and I to White Falls fishing. We caught several fish. I was so glad that Marvin helped us to go.
