1871 Oct 5th. Cutting & Hanging Tobacco in fresh &
new ground Ed Bailess hire hanging to day
Hauled up 2 Loads last night & it rained some

6th. Rained this morning made fire under 2 barns
& placing on barn back of Garden, -
Hanging in new ground; stoped raining awhile

7 Worming & Succoring Our Lot working on
road to Corn field Sam firing barn back
of Garden began last night. We have filled new
prize & old prize Barn the barn back is quite full not

8th. Sunday pretty morning for meeting I
went to meeting yesterday Very Smokey at this time

9. Fair pretty day Cutting Tobacco & will finish
all We have to day or at any rates will try
Nannie & Doron gone up to Richard Whitehead
& Carried Nannie home, & will come backtomorrow
Finish Cutting by 12 Oclock to day

10th Housing Lot over at Owens Barn put
near 300 Sticks of Mine & nearly 100 of Sams
& Jane Martins wife has got a few sticks of
Tobacco in that house Hauling wood here & at
that Barn this evening & Cutting wood over
& started fire there this evening - got Some Hay
to day for my Horse - moderate weather
My Hogs all up this morning but 2 1 Sow & Boar
Doron & Nannie & Ora Come to night

11th Firing/Doran & Nannie & Ora Come by night Owens Barn Martin Sam Hauled
wood there & making Small fires under Barns
here at House then going to plowing Tobacco
Stubble in fresh ground - Picking up roots etc
Lewis gone to Mount Airy airy after Papers etc
Doron Nannie & Ora gone to Mrs Colemans
to Geo E Colemans infair etc to be married tomorrow

12th. Rained last evening hard this morning fair
& not a cloud hardly to be seen all day
Plowing for wheat firing Owens Barn Tobacco
Sam Ben & Lewis cutting up bushes & stubble
in fresh ground Robt Plowing 2 Horses
quite cool & windy —
