I had hoped to be able to persude one or two prominent Chinese ladies to attend your Conference, but the recent political conditions in the country made this impossible.
Out of many contributions from leaders among Chinese women I am sending the enclosed (original list and a [translation?]) from the Hon. Mrs. Neile. Mrs. Neile is a daughter of the late marquis Tseig Kwo Fau, who was one of China's greatest statesmen and one of her most famous [?]. He was [?] by the Emperor Kwang Tki and was a special

favorite of the late Emperer Dowager of recent fame.
The best of China stands for our Peace Movement and so far as I can gather, China's women are solid against the modern insane craving for armaments in their campaign. Women in China have far more influence in the moulding of public opinion, than is generally supported in western countries, and if they were well organized would form an important faction in any national movement.
War is ? to the best Chinese traditions and sentiment. At present however there is a tendency towards militarors but it is foriegn to Chinese ideals and is bared upon false assuptions of national security. One way of meeting this growing military spirit is by an enlightened campaign among the women of China whose sentiments are so [nobley?] [?]
