Letter from New York Flat dated March 23d 56, addressed to "Hon. W. C. Burnett" and signed "W P Calloway, Capt Mountain Riflemen". William P. Hon [Honorable] W. C. Burnett Der [Dear] Sir

I and my company are very anctious [anxious] to be sent out against the Indians and if the Governor should call for Troops you will represent The Mountain Rifle Men redy [ready] to take up the line of march for the Seat of War at the Shortest Posible [possible] notice you will pleas [please] use your inflewence [influence] in favour of us and and much ablige [oblige] meny [many] friends.
