1848 Sunday 17th Sept cloudy & like for Rain
my wife gone to Mrs Hunts

18th Cut over little new ground & little side of
Fresh ground in first 225 in other 150 sticks.

19 Cutting still in second yrs ground this day
sticks 450 Our Ram got with the flock
yesterday. clouday night

20 Cut thisday200 sticks in second yrs
Ground & 470 sticks on branch & lot

21stcutting all on branch & 550 sticks —worming & succoring Tobacco &
Halling rails for fodder stack frames

22. Gathering Peas tops etc etc.

23 Frost this morning stacking
tops. quite cool this morning

24th a little frost this morning
clear & cool ——

25. no frost this morning stacking Tops & Done
this evening clear fine weather 2125 sticks
sticks of Tobacco cut in all first cutting

26. Housing Tobacco filled new ground
barn & middle barn at home & someto goin
prize barn the 27th Sept 1848 —

27. Housing Tobacco this quite coolmorning

28. cut all our good Tobacco in Lot etcSent to Doct Whites Mill 7½ Bus corn
& 1 Log for Railing for yard
Hanging Lot Tobacco which we cut yesterday
began to Hall & House in prize barn

29. Housing Tobacco, cutting in big new ground
& Lot by Granary & Halling wood
more Pines in woods & old fields
every where this summer & fall than ever was
seen one summer before since I could recollect
