May 27 - June 1, 1864

& 4 mules with Colts - & here we have
3 Cows, 1 Bull, 3 Calves or yearlings &
2 steers, 2 Plow Horses my mule I
ride & Hester & her colt.

28th. Fine morning finishing
sewing Oats on Creek. I am
Sick this morning. Sent 1 Bbl
corn to turn for meal. Weeding
Corn to day
Let Jordan have 40 lb. Bacon for
them all at Plantation to last
till 1st July next — Rained
this evening quite hard cockling
Wheat making Brooms etc.

30th. Sheared sheep here today. I am
still complaining Plowing & weed
Corn, Cotton & Irish & Sweet Potatoes.
Let Henry Lila Claiborne little Henry
Jerry Smith & Milly Ann have have
40 lb Bacon to last till after 1st July.

31st. Cannons distinctly heard 30th here.
Weeding & working Collard Potatoes etc

June 1st. Finished weeding Pot[a]toes Cottone
& Plowing & weeding corn, clear fine day
Yesterday & to day & day before yesterday
Cannons firing very much
