Mount Pleasant Church records.

The Meetings of the Particular Baptist Church held at Brother Burnetts on the first Sabbath and Saturday before of each succeeding month

Commenced 28th Feby 1829

Feb'y March and April Mee tings were attended with little success, excepting several expressing a desire to help here and their own homes where too distant for their convenience.

May meeting, after Bretheren Isaac Miles and Thomas Stradley had [illegible] in leading divine service, a door of invitation [had?] opened, when Brother Peter Stradley and Naomi his wife where [illegible] [illegible] experience.

June Meeting Bretheren Moses Free =man and Thos. Stradley having conducted divine service, the Church concluded it would be expedient to meet tomorrow Lords day, at Abe Jarretts Ferry, for the administration of the solemn ordinance of Baptism.

Lords day the Church met as above we trust under the special inflcuent of the Divine Spirit -- Brother and Sister Stradley where Baptised by Brother Freeman in presense of a very large and orderly congregation & two discourses where afterwards delivered by Bretheren Freeman and Thos. Stradley.

July Meeting after Divine Service a door was opened but without success Brother T Stradley preached.

Saturday 1st Augst 1829 after Divine Service led by Bretheren Freeman and Stradley a door was opened when Brother Samuel Smith was recd by letter from Flat Creek Church & also Sister Nancy Sand from [illegible] [Harminy] [?] Church -- at this meeting it was considered necessary to by the strength of the Church with the [article?] to become Constituted

Sept. 1829 after Divine service Sister Rhoda Cook was rec'd by letter from Bethel Wilks at NC — at this meeting it was una = nimously agreed to petition Newfound for letters of dismission in order to become a regular constitutes Church — Service led by Bretheren Miles and Stradley —

Meeting 4th Octo. 1829 Worship led by Brother T Stradley — having obtained letters of dismission, we agreed to petition the three following Churches for Ministerial aid to constitute in a Church, and for the Ordination of a Deacon. Bretherens Isaac Miles Newfound, Moses Freeman Bull Creek, & Stephen Morgan Flat Creek —
