Sir,
This Society, which was formed amongst other things for collecting all that is obtainable
concerning the Aboriginees, solicits your assistance in making a collection of the Native Names of
places with their meanings or the reason why the blacks gave such names to the several localities (see
example).* No doubt some of the old residents in your district will be able to assist you.

Yours faithfully,

This word list was published in Science of Man Vol. 6 No. 12 (30 January 1904)
http://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-532269375 under the heading to 'Corpe District'. 'Corpe' is not a placename, but a misreading of 'Corpl', the rank of the contributor, Corporal E. Peirl No. 37 (died 2/11/1900) who had been stationed at Cossack until Aug 1898. (p.c. Michael O'Connor). The language is Wajarri.
