In June, 1895, Mr. Frederic G. Floyd reported one
clump of Cytisus scoparius on the Clliff near Grant Ave., one
in a deep hollow in the Continuation of N. Centre St., opposite
the burying ground, and a few plants in the same burying ground.
Also some in a dry swamp in Madaket.
I found on a visit to the island in 1896 that a few of the summer
residents are trying to spread our rare plants all over
the island, taking special pains with the three heaths, the
broom and gorse. Some of this Cytisus which Mr. Floyd saw was
certainly planted by Heeman hauds, and it is quite likely that it
was all scattered in the same way. M.L.L.

Melilotus officinalis, Willd. Discovered by Miss E.S.Kite
at Sancoty Head. Abundant South of the path that leads
to the foot of the cliff. 1888.
Roadsides in town - Mrs. N.F.Robinson, 1894. No - Beach St.
and Brant Pt. F.G.Floyd, 1885. not uncommon.

Medicago Sativa, L. Luerne. Adventive - Noticed
by Mr. Nickerson in 1898 and 1890. In old fields. Mr. Floyd
and Mrs. Robinson, 1894.
