The undersigned residents of Richmond being informed that Kitty Lambert an emancipated person of colour intends to apply for permission to remain in the state and reside in Richmond according to law, take pleasure in bearing testimony in her favour. We have known her well and believe her to be a person of good character, sober, peaceable orderly and industrious. We hope her application will be granted

CITY OF RICHMOND, to wit:

Registered, in the Office of the Court of Hustings for the said City, the 16 day of July 1858, No. 1097.

Kitty Ball a brown colored woman about five feet ------high, and about fifty years old, who was emancipated by deed of emancipation recorded in this office from Janetta R. Harrison administrative with the will annexed of Elizabeth J. Carrington dec'd but who has no permission to remain in this Commonwealth as appears by the oath of George D . Fisher and registered by order of Court made July 15th 1858. She has lost nearly all of her front teeth.
