In Richmond Hustings Court, May 14th 1850 On the motion of Juno Roper, a free woman who has been emancipated from slavery since May 1806, it is ordered that the Justices of this court be summoned to appear here on the first day of the next term, to hear and decide on the application of the said Juno Roper that she may be permitted to remain in this Commonwealth and to reside in this city, during the good the good pleasure of the Court. THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, To the Sergeant of the City of Richmond, Greeting: We command you that you summon George H. Tompkins and D. M. Branch to appear before the Justices of our Court of Hustings, for the City of Richmond, at the Courthouse, on Wednesday next, the 12th inst: to testify and the truth to say in behalf of Juno Roper a free woman of colour, upon her application for leave to remain in this commonwealth and reside in this city &

And this they shall in no wise omit, under the penalty of £ 100. And have then there this Writ. Witness, Charles Howard Clerk of our said Court of Hustings, the 10th day of June 1850, in the 74th year of our foundation. Chs: Howard
