Helmsdale.
On our way
back to Dunrobin we
dined with Hadwen whos.

first rate; paid [Nuerem?]
Gunn a visit after.
On Friday 12 May
To Dornoch, at the
inn we found the
Sheriff of the County, Mr
Dingwall Fordyce, (during
the time I was North I saw
a great deal of MrF.
and I think he is one of the
pleasantest & kindest
old gentlemen that I have
ever met; his appearance
& manner are rather
peculiar, but he has all
the pleasantness of a Scots-
man without the faults)
he had arr. in a great
hurry fr. Edinburgh, having
Xpected the election to take
place immediately.
After going the rounds
of the electors in the town
I went over the Jail in
which there were 2 men.
After Dornoch we
paid some visits among
others to H. Hall [illegible] the
Little Ferry, & also at Clashmore.
