Tuesday, December 21, 1948 - I made 2 cakes this Morning. I ironed this afternoon. Robert came home at noon today. There wasn't any school this afternoon. Lin & B.J. came this afternoon to tell us Jim is real sick. They tried to call us over the telephone but couldn't get us. Rex & Loyd went to see Jim tonight. Rex came home about 12 o'clock tonight. He says he knows Jim is in a bad shape but he don't think he is as sick as the family thinks he is. Rex says Jim might die at any time and he might get well enough to get up around the house.

Wednesday, December 22, 1948 - Robert & I came home from Anton on the school bus. Rex took Robert to Anton this Morning. The First and Second grade had a program together. Robert was in the program and he said his part O.K. I still don't know why he didn't want to say his poem at Liberty. Rex Went to town this Morning to see about Jim. Jim is better. They said he had a bad spell about 2 o'clock this Morning & they were afraid he wouldn't live through the night. The Doctor says he is better. Rex & Robert went to town this afternoon. I cleaned up our bed room floor & also the dining room floor. Uncle Brock isn't so well. His feet are still swolen.
