Sun. August 13 1944. Mother, Robert, Rex & I started to Aunt Jessie Slaton's this afternoon but John Marion said they wasn't at home. Della Brown is dead & they were down there. We stopped at John Marion's & stayed a good while. We had some Real good watermelon to eat.
Mon. August 14 1944. I canned 1 qt. of tomatoes & made 7 qts. of Beet pickles. Rex wen't to town. Court met. Mother, Robert & I wen't to Mrs. Jones this afternoon. Mother & Robert didn't stay long as they thought it would rain. It did rain some but I stayed all the afternoon.
Tue. August 15 1944. We washed a large washing. Rex, Robert & I wen't to Earlington after ice. We got 100 lbs. We came back by Madisonville.
Wed. August 16 1944. We ironed this morning. We seeded some damson's this afternoon. Rex helped us hang out new Living Room curtains. It has rained hard today. Bobby Wiley ate dinner with us. He is helping Rex work tobacco. Mrs Jones came a little while. John Marion came also.
Thur. August 17 1944. Bobby Wiley ate dinner with us. He is working for Rex. I made 2 gallons of Damson's preserves. It rained hard this afternoon. We pealed some peaches. I patched some and finished mowing the yard.
Fri. August 18 1944. I Boiled a ham and made some peach preserves. Mother cleaned up the house. I moped and waxed the Kitchen floor. Mrs Jones came a little while. I washed a few pieces. We looked for Earl Jr. Slanton today but they didnt come. I read some.

Sat. August 19 1944. Rex, Robert and I went to town this afternoon. Robert and I went to the show. Then we went to Jessies and stayed a few minutes. Mother and Uncle Brack stayed at home this afternoon.
Sun. August 20 1944. Rev Cole preached at Earlington this morning. Then he came and took dinner with us. Rev cole, Uncle Brack, Mother and I went to church at Pleasant View this afternoon. We went by and got Mrs Will Grace and she went to church with us. Cousin Oscar and Cousin Emma Kirkwood Fred Kirkwood, wife and two girls came late this afternoon.
Mon. August 21 1944. We washed a large washing. I went to Miss Cassie's this afternoon and took Uncle Brack's clothes for her to wash. I stopped to see Callie a little while. She is better.
Tue. August 22 1944. I got part of the ironing done. Mrs. Jones came this afternoon to see if Mother wanted to go with her to see Mrs. James. Mother wasn't feeling well so I wen't with Mrs. Jones. Mrs. James was some better. Mother & I gathered butter beans late this afternoon and fixed them ready to can.
Wed. August 23 1944. I made about 7 pints of apple jelly & canned 6 qts. of Butter Beans. I ironed a little. Mother & I pealed some peaches this afternoon. Jasper came tonight. I read some.
Thur. August 24 1944. I canned nearly 2 gallons of peaches & 1 qt. of tomatoes. John, alma & Monroe came this afternoon. Mother & I seeded & canned 1 gallon & 3 qts. of Damson's. I patched some & Read some.

Fri. August 25 1944. I canned 1/2 gallon of tomatoes. we washed some. Rex took Mother to Aunt Georgia McGuyer's. She will stay until Sunday. I read some this afternoon and tonight.
Sat. August 26 1944. It is raining hard this morning Rex, Robert, and I wen't to town this Afternoon even if it has rained nearly all the afternoon. Rex took robert to Jessie's and I went to the show.
Sun. August 27 1944. Miss Cassie came this afternoon. Rex, Robert and I wen't to Aunt Georgia's late this afternoon after Mother. Mother said she had a Right good time. I read a little tonight.
Mon. August 28 1944. We pealed some peaches and I canned 1 gallon and 1 pint and one 1/2 pint and got dinner. Mother cleaned up the house. I mowed the yard this afternoon. Lawerence and Gene came late this afternoon and took Supper with us.
Tue. August 29 1944. We washed today. I read some this afternoon and tonight. I gifted Robert a Bed Spread out of one of my Spreads. Mother, Robert and I wen't to the watermelon patch this afternoon.
Wed. August 30 1944 I canned 1 gallon and 1 qt of tomatoes and ironed. I wen't to Loyd's this afternoon to get Modest to fix my pink dress. Callie took me and Rex and Robert came after me. I read some tonight.

Thur. August 31 1944. I made 7 quarts of Damson's preserves some Damson jelly and canned 1 gallon of Damson's. I patched some this afternoon. Mrs Jones, one of her Son's, two daughtersin-law and 3 grand-children came a little while this afternoon. I read a little tonight.
Fri. September 1 1944. We washed some and cleaned up the house. I went to Mrs Jones a little while to see her folks before they go home. Mrs Jones told me about Roy Slaton being dead so i didnt stay long. Rex and I went to Loyd's this afternoon and then we went over to Bessie's. Rex went tonght and stayed a while after 2 o clock at Bessie's.
Sat. September 2 1944. Rex and I went to town this morning. we went to Bessie's this afternoon and went with the crowd to Bethelham to Roy's funeral and Burial. We wen't to town this afternoon.
Sun. September 3 1944. Tom, Lamb. and Children came a while today. Lin and Hermon came also. Uncle Brack was sick in bed all day yesterday but better today. Lawerence and Gene, Dorthy, Mr and Mrs Thurmon Smith & Faye came late this afternoon. John, alma and monroe came tonight.
Mon. September 4 1944. I ironed some and have done the general housework. Robert and I went to Mrs Jones this afternoon. i read a little tonight.
Tue. September 5 1944. We washed a large washing. It has rained some this afternoon. I gifted Robert a bed spread this afternoon. I read some tonight. I dont feel well.

Wed. September 6 1944. We ironed and I canned 1/2 gallon of tomatoes. John, alma and monroe came a little while this afternoon. Uncle Brack is better. I am still not feeling well.
Thur. September 7 1944. I made over 5 qts. of apple marmalade and canned 1 1/2 gallons of green Beans. I made Robert a long sleeve jacket this afternoon. I read a little tonight. i dont feel well.
Fri. September 8 1944. Uncle Brack isn't felling as well today. I washed a few pieces and have done the general house work. Mother went to Mrs Jones this afternoon. Loyd came a little while. I don't feel well. I read some this afternoon and also tonight.
Sat. September 9 1944. I canned 1/2 gallon of tomatoes. Rex, Robert, and I went to town this afternoon. I got Robert's hair cut then Rex took him to Jessie's and i went to the show. I enjoyed the show fine.
Sun. September 10 1944. Rex took mother to aunt Georgia's this morning. Aunt Georgia and Mother will go to Providence to see Aunt Jannie. Mother will be gone from home a week. Ruby and Jasper came this afternoon and we went to the watermelon patch. I read some tonight.
Mon. September 11 1944. I canned 3 qts. of tomatoes. It has rained nearly all day but didn't rain much. Mrs Jones came this afternoon. I made Robert a jacket. Uncle Brack isnt feeling well. I read some tonight.
