At 12,35 A,M, had to leave the Ice
berg to avoid a nyyr while laying to the
Ice berg you could hear occasionaly craks
caused by pieces of the berg dropping off
Weather clear cold and pleasant we
were unable to force a way through the
Ice floe Experimented with Gun Cotten
Torpedos plased 4.m line 25-feet against
the Ice being about 12, to 14 feet thick
the result of explosion was 4 circulas about
10 feet in diameter and no skattering
effect was observed there was about 6
inches of snow on the Ice at the time
At 11.10 AM sted to the Southward
close into Western shore of Hare Island
mett solid Ice again in the aftarnoon
and where Compelled to make fast
again to a small Ice berg A 6 pm
cast cast off from berg on untill 8 pm
steamed up and down West Coast of
Hare Island lookin for a lead off 8,10 pm
made out a steamer astern comming
up on us wich prooved to be the
Look Garry Mr Chamber signalled
have met the steam Arctic and
Wolf they will soon be along

May 28th

At 12:45 AM the English
Steam whaler Wolf have in sight
and at 2,35 A,M, the Arctic came
up At 4,30 AM, started ahead again
standing to the NerEer? through
heavy Ice Signalled to Loch Garry
if you find Ice to heavy wait for
a better opportunity At 7 AM got
into small streak of clear water
near main land but the Ice
becoming heavy again but we kept
