ice and passing a number of large
Ice Bergs from 6 to 8 AM we had
to run on a course N.N.W. in order
to clear large Ice field also we were
compelled to slow down on several
occasions on account of Ice at 8 AM

Commanding Officer held divine
service saw several seals and a
number of Birds during day Look

at 8 PM Port Log 927 miles At 9 PM
changed course to N.E.

May 19th

Overcast, cloudy and cold
rough sea At 8.35- AM stopped Engine
for setting up shortest ahead again
At 10.38. Wind blowing a strong breeze
from N.E. passing nothing but ice
bergs both of numerous size and
small ones 8 am Port Log 996 miles
At 8 PM Port Log 1034 miles Look

Port Sounding Machine led 12.0
fathoms of wire and found no
bottom The Ship rolling easy to
a rough Sea
