Dear Mother,
Just to let you know I am getting on alright & hope you are all well at home. Please, will you write to Ted, you will get the address from his mother. Say I am alright & should like to hear from him. Give my love to Maria & the children. I will write more when I can write my own cards, but I am getting on very well.

guess my build. I should like my boots to be size 10 and I can wear two pair of sock's this cold weather. I hope he will oblige me. I hope Tom is in good health. You must let me know as soon as possible. I hope you have written to Ted for me. Well Dear Mother I am getting real well now. I am pleased to say I shall be none the worse for my adventure very soon, so we must hope to see one another very soon. I expect Syd will be quite a man now. Maria Gertrude Wenham was born in Grimsby about 1886, daughter of Thomas and Hannah Wenham. In the 1891 census she was living with her family at 38 Hamilton Street, Grimsby. In the 1901 census she was living with her family at 11 Rutland Street, Grimsby.
In 1906 she married Tom East (GRO, Grimsby, Marriages Sep 1906, 7a 1280). Their first child, Thomas Wenham East, was born in 1907 (GRO, Grimsby, Births Sep 1907, 7a 623). In the 1911 census they were living at 45 Barcroft Street, Grimsby. Other children included Sidney East (born 1913) and William A. East (GRO, Grimsby, Births Mar 1916, 7a 978).
