A cool clear day. There was a killing frost this morning. Ben finished sowing wheat today. Jim shucked some corn. I washed some.

Josie got dinner. She had beef steak and potatoe pudding. We all enjoyed dinner.

Josie, Mabel and I went to Marvins this evening. They all seemed to be getting on well.

The children went to school to day.

Jim fed the cows corn stalks today. Every thing has dried up in the pasture. It is a gloomy time a bout something to feed on.

A cloudy day. No rain yet. Jim and Ben shucked some corn and fed the cows the stalks. Then hauled some wood. Josie made some bats for her quilt. I [ put up?] some hens. Expect to kill them tomorrow. This evening I went to Johnson Reynolds. Found them well. [Johnson] was stripping tobacco. The children here are better of their sore mouths. I do hope that they very soon be well. I am so sorry for them all that are sick. I want to hear from Carrie & [family] so bad.

Jim made a hot bed to day and worked in the garden half the day. The children went to school. Mabel has a bad colde and is so cross that we cant hardly stand her. Josie has sewed some today.
