Wednesday, December 25, 1918

A good day. The roads is very muddy. Ben hunted some today. He killed four rabbits gave two of them to William Gilbert.

Josie and I staid at home.

Kate and Irvin Harvey come and eat dinner with us. They drove Prince home and Irvin brought him home. I had a letter from John and Effie Brumfield.

Mary Brumfield sent me a book to write in the coming year. Hope I may be able to write in it. Dick Woodings folks gave a party to night.

The children had a good time to day playing with the things they got this morning.

I got several presents was glad of them.

Friday, December 26, 1919

A good day. Ben hunted some this morning. Kate Harvey come a while today.

I went to Marvins and eat dinner. Mr Padget & Dr Smith and Mrs Smith was there. Carrie had a nice dinner. Had a turkey and ham & cakes of different sorts cranberrie sauce and custard.

Thelma & Mary Brumfield and Jack Harvey come from Richmond to day.

Ben went to Long Island for them. Mr Owen had a dance tonight. Had one at George Hutchersons tonight.

Ben & Jack and Josie and Thelma & Mary and Henry went up there and staid a while. Thelm & Mary brought me a book for 1920. Also a founing pen & some candy. I am glad of them.

Wednesday, December 31, 1919

A good day. Ben & Jim went hunting. A lot of the grand children come to night and a few others. Kate and Irvin walked down here. The children played until midnight. They all said that they had a good time. I did not have anything to do with the askin them.

I am glad that the Xmas is gone. Every day is preshious but the excuse for doing nothing is gone.

We have had good wood and have had good fires for which I want to be thankful. I have not bin sick a day so that I could not go a bout. I feel sad to think of this being the last time that I will write in this book.

Thursday January 20, 1921

A beautiful day. Some warm. Jim and Ben helped Owen strip tobacco after shucking some corn and carrieing it to the corn house and feeding the cows. Marvin loaded his waggon and sent it on to Gretna.

The children went to school. Josie and I got dinner.

I have went to sleep and let my book fall twice. Dont know any thing worth writing so I will quit.

Saturday, January 20, 1923

A rainy evening. Ben and Jim finished their plant bed today at twelve o'clock. There is sickness at most every home around here at this time. Nellie and I got dinner. Nellie washed dishes. Henry went to Renan for soda for the plant beds. Nellie made Evyline an apron to day. Letia Ward brought the clothes home this evening. I went to sleep and marked my book. Letia Ward brought the clothes home this evening.
