A good day. Ben and Owen got up corn until twelve then Ben helped rais a house for George Hutcherson. I went to Marvins. Kate Harvey was there. Carrie gave me some meat. Jim Power and Fletcher Carr is here to night also Charley Hutcherson.

Josie sewed. She made Ben a shirt.

Lucius Gravley come home from camp to stay we hope.

A shower this morning but a clear evening.

Ben & Jim sowed peas this morning. This evening Ben cut wheat for Lee Brumfield. Oskar Brumfield thined corn for Ben. Edna and I thined 26 rows this evening.

Josie made Ben two shirts today. I caned some beets. The first that I ever caned. I choped a little in the garden & replanted some cucumber hills. Put up some onions. We are getting plenty vegatables now.

A rainy day. We could not get any water out of the spring that would do to use until nearly night. The men folks cant do anything in the crop.

Ben went to Mr Dews to play croquet. It rained so hard that they had to quit.

We had fried chicken for dinner. Did not try to get vegetables.

Josie sowed some. Made Henry a shirt. Nellie worked some button holes in Franklins clothes. Henry & Edna went to George Blairs this evening. They are trying to learn to recite some pieces.

A good day. Jim plowed. Ben went to Altavista to have his teeth worked on. He got his worke done. Henry went with Ben.

Josie washed and ironed a silk shirt for Jim. We had turnip salit for dinner. The boys have a nice bed of salit.

I have bin at home all day and no one come. Was thinkin that John might come. Hope he will come soon.

A cloudy cool day. Have needed fires all day. Jim worked on his tobacco ground. Ben went to Long Island for roofing for the barn shelters. Marvin and Henry went with him. Ben carried corn to the mill. Josie made Henry two shirts and two pair of curtains. I churned this morning. This evening I went to Marvins. Carrie was makeing Eva a dress.

Heard of several planting tobacco today. It is very early to plant yet it may do well.
