A good day cool and windy. Ben went to Chatham this morning. Come home and hauled a load of wood.
Mr Owen went to the mill at White Falls did not get his grinding.
Posie Johnson has bin sick heard this evening that Posie Reynolds is sick.
Paul Josie and I stripped tobacco most of the day.
I finished digging the sweet potatoes and Paul hauled them home on the wheel barrow. Chesley Edmons come by here this evening to tell us good by he has got to go to training camp Monday.

Monday, October 21, 1918
A good day. Ben went to Chatham with Jim Emerson Lucius Gravley and Chesley Edmons and Faber Jefferson and lots of others had to start to training camp.
John Hutcherson disked Bens wheat land this morning for one dollar per acre.
We that was Paul and Owen and Josie and Henry Brumfield and Luke and Norman Owen all stripped tobacco. To night Ben and Paul has gone to the barn to rebulk some tobacco.
Josie gave me a nice lot of candy a present from Josie and Carrie. Tomorrow is my birthday. I will be 72 years olde.
I thank them both. Mother.

Sunday, November 17, 1918
A rainy day. We all staid at home. Mr Dews and Owen and children all come up here and played croquet. I went to Marvins a little while. Marvin went to see the Edmons this evening.
Tom Edmons went back to camp to day.
We had beef steak for breakfast and dinner. Denia sent the beef to Carrie and she sent us part of it. We certainly did enjoy it.

Thursday, December 5, 1918
A good day. Ben and Owen got up corn until twelve then Ben helped rais a house for George Hutcherson. I went to Marvins. Kate Harvey was there. Carrie gave me some meat. Jim Power and Fletcher Carr is here to night also Charley Hutcherson.
Josie sewed. She made Ben a shirt.
Lucius Gravley come home from camp to stay we hope.
