Sunday, October 13, 1918
A good day. we all stayed at home. I got dinner. We had turnip salit and butter beans.
Josie helped Ben move some tobacco while it was in order. This evening Marvin and family and Kate Harvey and Irvin Harvey come. Mr Dews and Owen and some of the children was here and played croquet.
Paul and Earl Bennett come. Paul will stay a while and strip tobacco. I hope that it may stay in order so he can handle it.

Sunday, October 20, 1918
A rainy day. We all stayed at home until late in the evening. Kate and Irvin Harvey come a while. I walked with Kate as far as Marvins.
There has bin very little passing today. Paul Bennett went to George Blairs this evening.

Wednesday, October 23, 1918
A good day. There was a killing frost this morning. Ben worked on Nat Woodings car.
Nat come tonight and got his car. Ben went to Altavista this evening to see about getting some lumber a bout Mr Owens house.
The rest of us and Owen and two of his children helped to strip tobacco.
They put some tobacco in the pit to night.
Kate and Irvin Harvey come and got a few apples to day.

Thursday, October 24, 1918
A good day. We all except Ben stripped tobacco until dinner.
Ben shod the horses this morning. This evening he went to Level Run after lumber and carried it to Willie Hubbards planer. Never got home til after dark.
Paul Josie and Henry and I gathered up the peanuts and washed them. We made a nice lot of them. I finished the socks that I knit for Charley Harvey. Irvin come for them.

Sunday, November 10, 1918
A good day. We all staid at home until twelve then Ben went to Willie Mayhews. Josie and I got dinner.
Josie straitened up in my room and swept the floor. Something that is not often done. I was glad that she did it.
Gladys and Hugh Brumfield Stewart and Delma Owen come to see the children here. I think they had a good time. Irvin Harvey come a few minutes. I did not get to speak to him.
Josie dressed a chicken to night. She thinks now that they will start to school in the morning.
Mr Layne come this morning to get his calf. He couldn't get it to follow him.
