6342 Brown Towhee (male sign) ad. 39.6g. Shot off of granite boulder
surrounded by sage-brush; 3 others seen.
6343 Nuttall Woodpecker (female sign) im. 32.0g. Shot in willow.
6344 Valley Quail (male sign) 153g. (stage not given) Shot in willow; scores of
others seen, up in sagebrush and in other kinds of
brush around the corn-fields.
6345 Bewick Wren (female sign ) im. 8.9g. Shot from Eriogonum.
Sept. 28
6346 Eptesicus fuscus (male sign) 10.3g. 104x44x11x12. Shot at
early dusk last evening as it coursed back and forth in
the open above sage paralleling tall willow tract.
6347 Sceloporus jv. Caught in the ranch house.
Last night a screech owl called in the willow
tangle close around camp. Heard two Horned Owls and
several Poor-wills. This morning heard another
Russet-backed thrush and saw a Warbling vireo. Also
heard a Tanager; all these in the willow association.
6348 Perognathus {fallax} fallax (?) (male sign) 17.3g. 188 x 103 x 24 x 7. In trap on
gravelly ground under Adenostoma fasciculatum bush. In formalin.
Discarded a Peromyscus maniculatus, (female sign), 4 embryos,
caught under a sage-brush.
6349 Neotoma fuscipes (female sign) 186g. 335x160x34x26. Caught
under edge of boulder at side of willow tract. Large
stick houses mark the presence of this species in
the willow association.
6350 Peromyscus californicus (male sign) 34.2 g. 243x143x26x23.
Caught under Prunus subcordatus bush at rock pile;
sagebrush and other shrubbery all about.
