sent a dispatch from Washington
that I would be home that night
Wm H. Eder & J.T. McCullough was on
the train my son was
waiting for me at Elkton. I started
for home and when I arrived
there found a party waiting my
arrival the town was
illuminated the choir was present
and Sang. to meet my friends
once more. thank god for his
goodness at home again

Tuesday Nov 10 1863
I left home again to join the
army my furlo expires on the 10
arrived at Washington
and put up at the Richwood
house. Visited my friend Major
Ricketts and wife corner of H & G St
returned to the hotel and
was met by J. L. Gatchell
I met with Chaplain Beaudry
of the 5th NYork Cavalry the chaplain
and Wm Bennett are my travling
companions got our pay from the Provost(?) Marshall

Wensday 11 we took boat for Alex
ander under and [crossed out: then got a pass for the] at
11 oclock we were on the cars for
