by Capt Sawyer the
condemned man extract from
a letter he wrote to his wife to
be enlarged by me and sent to
the Phil Engineer(?) for publication
if he is executed he is firm and
resigned he was visited by a rebel chaplain
and in his advice to Sawyer he remarked
that the federal had murdered
their citizens the Capt stoped him
and told him that all that he had
said to him on the Subject of religion
fell to the ground when
he justified the confederacy in his
execution he told him that he
had chaplains in the prison
that he would con(?) with
