Sir

I have paid John Maiden, and
James Scarlett - one pound each as directed, -
but William Major is absent on a voyage to
South America, - He is a single man - and
when at Hull lived with his father &
mother. will the receipt of his father answer
the purpose required - I send his receipt
unsigned.

When you see master of the Lady Seale inquire of him whe-
ther he made a declaration of the loss of the
steamer before the Receiver of wreck at Grimsby.
Should he not have done so he must do
there before me. Write reply hereon faithfully yours
