I beg to inform you that I propose visiting your District shortly
for the purpose of prosecuting an Inquiry undertaken by this
Department under directions from the
Board of Trade into the Titles of Lords of
Manors and other persons, to unclaimed
wreck.
The object of the inquiry being to ascertain
by the best available evidence the foundation
upon which those Titles rest, and to
secure to legitimate claimants the
enjoyment of their rights, you would
contribute much towards its accom-
-plishment by addressing letters to the
Lords of Manors so claiming &c in
your district explanatory of the purport
of the pending enquiry and requesting
them either to produce their Deeds
for my Inspection , or in the event as is
often the case of those Deeds being in
the possession of their Solicitors or
Agents to authorize the production of
them for my perusal - I will take
care to give you due notice of the day
when I shall be prepared to do so. [JAM?]
