Capt Metcalfe RN Jean & Jessie
Dr viz
From the explanation given in
your answered letter - I am of opinion
not withstanding the slight discrepancy in
the weight that Mr Bramble has satisfactorily
shown that the anchor [..] is that of the
"Jean & Jessie" - It would have been better
when the master was at Bridlington and
identified the anchor had the salvors
then been called upon - all the disputation
that has taken place on the subject would
then have been avoided - I think
the subject should now be allowed to drop
with mutual forbearance on each side
and as Mr Bramble is a gentleman of superior
education - I should hope that the largest share
would come from him - Endeavour to
adjust the matter for yours truly
