In this case a deposition was not taken - the Inspg Comm
of the C. Guard not feeling himself authorysed by the M.S. Act
1854 to take such deposition. I will therefore thank you to
inform me with reference to the 445 Sect of the Act whether
he has such power or with reference to 448 Sectn whether
a declaration can be taken only by a Receiver or by a Justice.
And also as no deposition was taken whether one should

the sanction of the last paragraph of the Table of Fees at page

Wreck Forms transmitted to Board of Trade for approval
13 Dech/55
Sir,
With reference to the Receiver of Wreck Report Book with
which I have been furnished arranged in accordance with
Form Wa4 of the printed instructions, I beg to acquaint you
that in consequence of the imperfect returns made to me
of wreck in the district which left me almost without
means of filling the particulars required into columns as
far as column 9 inclusive - I have had some forms
printed condensing the information into fewer columns and
sent them to the different C. Guard Stations, with a re
quest that they may be filled up and sent to me as wreck
may happen to be driven ashore, of which I send you one
annexed, and of which I trust you will approve. J.S. J.M.

James Sparrow informed that my Lords see no objection to his using the form annexed for the purpose of completing the returns required by this Department [posted?]
