Sir: _ I have the honor to transmit copy of a letter from John L. Collins Esq. Supt of Lights at Brunswick, Georgia nominating Mr. Hiram Hammett for appointment as Keeper of the Light House at Wolf Island, in place of E.E. Howard, resigned.

Sir: _ I have the honor respectfully to sub mit the following report, with a sketch of the locality, in answer to the following Resolution of the Senate, referred to this Board:
"In the Senate of the United States. January 13, 1870."

"Resolved, That the Secretary of the Treasury be requested to inform the Senate as to the necessity and expediency of constructing a Harbor Light House at the mouth of Yaquina Bay, in the State of Oregon, with an estimate of the cost of such structure."
