Thirteenth District
Portland Oregon October .26.1871

Rear Admiral W.B. Shubrick

Chairman Light House Board,

Washington, D.C.

Sir:

I have the honor to state, that in compliance with Letter of September 12 from your office - regarding the construction of the iron work for the Tower at Cape Foulweather - Oregon - my action was as follows - October.3. I wrote to Calvin Nutting & Son of San Francisco, inclosing plans and specifications offering them the privilege of making the iron work - if it could be done at a price proportionately less than the amount they received for similar work at Pigeon Point viz $8850.00 coin.

During my absence on duty, a letter and proposal were received from Calvin Nutting & Son copies of which are herewith enclosed.
