Among the rhetorical sciences of which there is shocking ignorance, not merely among ordinary practitioners but also among men of learning is the science of Translating. Comparatively unpretentious sciences of this group are those of Stenography, Cipher making and reading, Telegraphic code-making, the language of Flowers. There is also an immense body of ancillary sciences, such as those of Calligraphy, Pen making (quill, steel, gold, fountain, stylographica), Paper making, Pulp making, Ink making, Stencil making, Typewriting, Typography with its many divisions, Bookbinding, Library keeping, making handstamps, paper-clamps, labels, tags, badges, regalia, die-sinking, engraving, etching, Woodcutting, lithographic process reproduction, telegraphing, telephonery, wireless telegraphing. In this same group come other sciences of imitation, such as Photography, Phonography. Also Perspective, Theatrical Perspective, the sciences of Masquerading, Portraiture and Caricature, Dramatic Representation, Mimery.
