In order to bring out more clearly the central objection common to all forms of the argument, I will call your attention to another fallacious reasoning that errs in much the same way.

namely, there is a false way of thinking about morals strongly analogous to that false way of thinking which is the germ of the science -disease.
If likewise takes various forms; but in its purest form it argues that there is no distinction between right and wrong.
For, it is said, that distinction, if it exist, lies in the motive.
Now the only motive a man can have is pleasure.
No other is thinkable.
For if a man desires to act in any way, it is that he takes pleasure in so acting.
Thus, there is but one possible motive; while the distinction between right ans wrong, is it existed would
