The democratical man is the vular rake. Pleasures are here distiguished into the necessary such as the mere pleasure of feeding and the unnecssary such as the pleasure of an epicure's dinner party. Plato considers the latter to be evil. He does not say so but it would seem to follow from his priniciples that we should lead the life of a Cynic that is of a philosophic swine. Next comes anarchy which being intolerable passes into tyranny.
