A very rainy day. I
dressed a hen for Kate and
churned. I knit on Henrys
stockins to night.

Nannie Kate and I got supper.
Clack Hubbard was here at
supper and staid all night.
Mrs Martha Booker died
to day so we heard over
the phone.

Notes

What does it mean to "dress a hen"?
"dress" in this context is clean the innards. Here's a good reference. http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1286390 I'm wondering if her use of the word includes plucking or not.
